It is a hard fact that while conferring the individuals national awards for their contributions to the nation, in any field, the governments miss the wit. An argument has surfaced in connection of awarding ATS chief Hemant Karkare-whether or not. It would be quite silly to oppose the decision abruptly, But it is undeniable that that the successive governments couldn't rise above prejudice and partiality in this regard. The same perception related to 'camp' arises which undoubtedly demeans the awards' importance. It needs to be well analysed and debated, and above all scrutinized by the committee before announcing any award.
