Ultimately, the acid
attack victim, who had passed plus two, breathed her last after a 38-day
struggle for life. The victim hailed from Bhagalpur (Bihar). However, the local
administration claims that the statements of the victim’s family are
contradicting. Like who captured her, who threw acid and else. But isn’t it the
fact that the crime took place. When the convicts are being named then there is
truth.
By all means, acid attack
is one of the horrific faces of the gender-based crime. Injuring the body, it shatters
the victim’s personality and damages the confidence in abundance as well. This
incident reflects that in which direction the current generation is advancing.
Though there are several major factors influencing the youth. The mindset of most
of the youth has become extremely precarious.
The cyber age and several
horrific video games are obviously responsible for such crimes. But increasing
intolerance and ego has taken the youth in the grip. In fact, they don’t even
think twice to damage themselves too. In
one of such cases one convict was awarded death sentence for throwing sulphuric
acid on Preeti Rathi , who unfortunately succumbed to injury.
It is said that 350 cases
of acid attack are registered in India every year, whereas according to the
research conducted by Acid Survivors Foundation the figure mounts upto 500-1000
per year. However, many of such cases remain unnoticed, because the cases are
not registered. The reluctance of victims’ family might be one of the reasons.
