Moreover, there are multinational companies too around the world. No wonder, three-fourth of the world economy is dealt and controlled by the drug companies. The network of pharma companies has acquired a huge space in the world.

However, new pharma companies are emerging day by day inland and abroad as well. The companies are hiring people in scores to cover the medical field as much as possible. The freshers are being appointed on scanty remuneration in the situation of vast unemployment. Those persons can be seen moving from one doctor’s clinic to the other. Appointing the freshers, the companies draw much more benefit.

Due to the killing unemployment, the freshers agree to whatever amount they are offered. In this case the experienced and old employees are at the verge of termination any moment. In that amount and perks which an old experienced employee draws, the three freshers can be appointed.

By the way, the queue of the medical representatives of various companies can be seen in the hospitals and private clinics. The representatives appear with certain gift items and other benefit before the doctors alluring them. And the cycle goes on in this way. The relation between the doctors and the companies becomes closer. The medicines are much costly, though from the beginning but these days the costs are towering much higher.

However, the doctors have nothing to do with the high price, they would extract it from the patients. Meanwhile they are well gifted. A dealing between the doctors and companies are fixed, irrespective of the patients. The patients have to suffer in both ways, physically as well as financially.

As a matter of fact, the patients and their relatives bear the cut-throat charges and prices of the medicines. The cost of medicines are rising day by day. Incidentally, one of the chemist told about the price fixing. Minimum three times of the cost price of any medicine are charged in the market. Just assume, what the patients and their relatives have to go through in this connivance. The medical treatment has become an uphill task to perform these days, but there is no way out. One has to go through this fire. It can be easily assumed that there is a nexus between the both.

The doctors, in present days, don’t have confidence. It is simply reflected in their treatment process. First and foremost, bunch of tests and medicines. Doesn’t it show that despite the completing their studies and internship they are yet at their starting stage. If one medicine doesn’t work, then another one is prescribed and event failing to cure, the third is advised. The patients are just for experiment for them which is deplorable. In fact, the patients are considered the moneymaking machines for them. Their motive seems to be to extract as much as much money from them. They have nothing to do with the life of the sufferers.  

The doctors don’t even bother that how the amount is being arranged by the relatives of the patients. They have even to sell their lands and possessions to the medical expenses. Besides, medical treatment is getting costly day by day. Most of them even reach at hand to mouth stage after the treatment of their kins.

The regrettable fact is that the doctors usually carry on their treatment until the case gets worst and out of their hands. They mostly referred the patients to other well equipped reputed medical institutions when the case had reached to the last stage rather almost lost. Most of the doctors continue their private practices besides their government or reputed medical institutes.

Though, the medicos were warned at times that one who is in government jobs should not continue their practices. The other step there was a condition for the doctors in government jobs have to give their services to the remote rural areas for several years. Still the private practices couldn’t be checked. They made inroads even in that condition. In the case of private nursing-homes, the patients and their kins are exploited to that extent that neither way is left for them to come out of the distress.

However, there are several advertisements from the government about the welfare of the public, which appears to be scanty in reality. The money is siphoned by other ways. Its quite natural that in case of struggling with disease, the people have to follow what they are told. Though there are relaxations in government hospitals but the doctors are mostly away from there and focused on their private practices.  It is quite relevant which the ancestors said one is lucky who has not visited hospital, police and court.

Doctors Next To The God- A Farce

 As said that the doctors are next to the God and it remains just the pages of books, not in practice. Patients are not for sympathy and compassion. They are just for exploitation. To extract more and more money until their last drop of blood. There are handful of doctors who are dedicated to their service. Otherwise, most of them are indulged in making more and more bucks without thinking a bit about the miserable plight of the patients and their relatives. The costly treatment breaks their spine. There is a huge difference in the doctors decades ago and the present scenario. When a patient visits the doctor then one has to face the sky-rocketing fees which deteriorates the condition of the patient at first sight. Then various tests and prescribed medicines give them a hard blow to the patients and their attendants. There are four to seven types of tests. Generally, every test costs from three to five hundred. Anyway, after viewing test reports, the turn of medicines comes. Usually, seven to twelve types of medicines are prescribed which are in forms of tablets, capsules and syrups. So, one has to bear four to five thousand rupees at the first visit. Going through these hazardous circumstances, the opinion formed is that the doctors are worthless. They have no confidence and unable to diagnose the ailment on themselves.

Doctors’ Protest-A Major Challenge

Fatal attacks on doctors are not the only root cause of the medicos’ stir. Sparked in West Bengal, spread across the country in a fraction of time, the stir reminds about the lack in health care system. Besides, even the private doctors have joined the protest. The spread of stir nationally can’t be taken casually. Though, there are few photos circulated in social media showing doctors are checking the patients despite resignations. How shouldn’t it be applauded? As far as medical care is concerned, the doctors are the target within reach. So, they have to bear the brunt of any people connected with the patients/victims. But the question is: Are they sole responsible?

Doctors from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and Safdurjung Hospital, the prominent hospitals in Delhi, joining the protest indeed reflects its gravity. Besides, doctors from Mumbai, Chandigarh, Jammu & Kashmir hospitals have expressed their solidarity. The attitude of CM Mamata Banerjee is criticized by prominent personalities. Mamata’s audacious attitude has irked most of the doctors fraternity. While Ms Banerjee says that is a conspiracy of Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) and a plot of “outsider” as well. When Calcutta High Court refused to intervene, then CM began making calls for negotiations.   

However, the news concerning clash between doctors and people mostly have places in the media. It is quite natural that whose patient suffers or dies will be agitated. On the other hand, the medicos do try to save the ailing patients, but what would they do if there is lack of resources.

In the meantime, AIIMS has delivered a statement to meet the demands within 48 hours, otherwise the stir would intensify. Issuing this warning, doctors are expressing their determination for their protest. Medical system would definitely collapsed if it is not looked in within time-frame. They even warned of withdrawal of whole non-essential health services from 17 June.

It is learnt that 73% of the total population of India live in the rural areas, while 26.1 % of them are below poverty line. There is huge lack of healthcare infrastructure in the prevailing system. Several major weaknesses appear as deterrant. However, funding allocated on national level which is 4.1 % of GDP,which is comparatively high. On the other hand, government funding is   low to 1% in comparison to other emerging nations. Hence, the present plight makes the situation grim and the mass pass away without medical care.

In this context, the private health sectors are thriving day-by-day. The maximum part of health care system in our country is dominated by private sectors. Significantly, 70% of the total delivery market delivered in India by private sectors. It evidently shows that the healthcare has gone far from the commoners. Like this, they can avail the medical facilities who have opulent wealth. Though, a super speciality hospital Gujarat Adani Institute of Medical Sciences has been established. However, it claims to provide medical facilities even to the common people. If it is, then there must be at least 50 more such hospitals in a vast nation like India.

In addition,there are several other reasons for unrest. One of the significant reasons is the centre-state relation-stern or cordial. However, if the governments in the centre and the state are of same fold, then there is doubt of status quo. If the governments of different folds are in centre and state then there is a fair chance of tussle. Ultimately, people are the sufferers.
