INDO-PAK:DISTANCE BREWING

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his
Pakistani counterpart, Nawaz Sharif, did not greet
each other at the SAARC Summit in Kathmandu on
Wednesday.
On the Pakistan’s Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s reiteration on confidence building between the two nations, his Indian counterpart  Narendra  Modi abruptly said that how can one be confident bearing the wound/scar of six years old 26/11 Mumbai attack. Though there were several remarkable confidence-breaking activities from Pakistan’s end since the the oath-taking of Modi as PM. Emphasizing on combating terrorism in South Asia, he proposed business visa with SAARC countries.
In the dais of 18th.SAARC Summit-2014 held in Nepal, both the premieres of India and Pakistan were present but looked downbeat at each other. The words of accusations are on fore, though indirectly. if the account be taken of Pakistan’s anti-India activities since May 2014,it would count in hundred including numerous violations of ceasefire. Ultimately India had to cancel the foreign secretary- level talks with Pakistan.
And now instead of putting check on the anti-India activities, Pakistan is blaming us of cancellation of the talks. It shows the dual policy of Pakistan that the talks and the anti-India activities would go simultaneously. One should have courage to oppose the misdeeds which Modi has conveyed. Besides, urged the SAARC nations to join hands to combat terrorism. If the sovereign nation has the right to keep itself peaceful, then its duty is not to disturb the neighboring nations too. One should be forthright to put everything to fore for the permanent solution of any problem. Pakistan’s third party appeal to resolve Jammu & Kashmir dispute is nothing more than a farce. It can be solved only by the two concerned nations in an amicable environment. Both the nations would have to come out of their ego and vested interest.
However, on the statement of Nawaz Sharif about ‘the ball is in the India’s court’, Modi must respond whole heartedly arranging the foreign secretary-level talks again which might cut the ice between the two nations. Besides, India does not need any certificate of endurance, perseverance and above all the patience from anyone else.
In fact, Nepal’s bid to materialize the the difference between India and Pakistan is commendable. But pressure won’t work. The matter has gone far beyond pressure level.

WHEN BARBARISM CRUSHED HUMANISM

Jigar came to our house frequently during my school days. He was a mason by profession. Any major construction or a even minor repair work, he was the only person who was called. He used to sit at the corner of the floor bowing down his head. Keeping the head down was a part of his personality. We usually chatted with him at the tea time or any gap from the work.
The possessed a mild behavior, above all he was abundantly tolerant. I didn’t see even a line of frowning on his face despite provocation. In off hours, when we sat around my elder brother teased him. Though we all shared a light. He said-you are foolish, you are idiot etc. Jigar’s instant response was not more than JI…(it is a word which shows approval  in Hindi.).All of us burst into laughter just after his reply. His simplicity and innocence was admirable. These qualities make him just UNFORGETTABLE. Even now he is remembered at times during any conversation.
We also a nice fun time too. We asked him if he knew English. His immediate response was YES. For a fun, we often persuaded Jigar to speak English. He started speaking English boldly PAST INDEFINITE,PAST IMPERFECT, PAST PERFECT…..BEETA HUA ZAMANA…GUZRA HUA ZAMANA….AB KAL AANA (time passed, now come tomorrow).Seeing us laughing he also accompanied us. We enjoyed his company a lot. Meanwhile he lost his mental balance. He used to wander here and there after this state of mind.
Despite his mental state he often came to our house. We made him waiting in our house and sent message to his  by any means. In the meantime, the communal riot broke out in October 1989. During that period one fateful day arrive when a fanatic mob lynched him. Killing an insane person cannot be matter of bravery, but a huge blot on humanity. It cannot be glorified by any means. It just compels one to think the humanity is fading day by day.

ASKED FOR WATER,GOT REFUSAL

Refusing someone asking for water is even more than a SIN.
There was an Annual Sports and Prize Distribution Day in a certain school. The guardians of the students were cordially invited to witness the event. The enthusiastic participants were looking forward to show their talents and the rest were cheering them up. In fact, the whole campus seemed enthralling. Every person was enjoying the moment wholly. But the two incidents during the event were amply shocking. Both the happenings  would compel any sensible person to think seriously about the incident.
The exuberant participants were exuding their synergy and efficiency in their respective items. Those innocent blooming buds were trying head to toe to give the best performance. However, a subject named ‘Value Education ‘ is a part of syllabus in most of the schools. But it is hardly in practice.
The first incident was hugely shocking. Some participants (perhaps three or four in number) rushed towards the place where packed drinking water glasses were stored. Being thirsty they asked for water. The teacher over there flatly refused, saying-‘these are not for you’. It was really astounding.
The teacher’s attitude seemed abolishing the ‘Value Education. This awful behaviour obviously reflects the approach towards the students. It is said the schooling makes child a perfect person. But the present scene just refuted the saying. Just think what the child will be later.
Though the next one is not so relevant in this context, but is definitely remarkable. There were chief guest and the other special invitees sitting in the first row on the stage during the event. Besides, there were a few row of chairs placed for the guardians too. The packed water glasses were being served on the stage. Meanwhile, a voice was heard saying-‘Serve the water to the chief guest and other dignitaries, not the guardians.’ What would any sensible guardian think hearing this. These incidents reflect the downfall of the values in the Temple Of Education.

PRIMARY EDUCATION: A PATHETIC SPECTRE

Indeed, primary education in our country draws its sordid state. Neither the corrective measures are inculcated, nor taught seriously. Most of the teachers do their jobs indifferently. The words, either be it of any language(Hindi, English etc.) are pronounced wrong. The regrettable fact is that they don’t get even the right information. It is quite shocking and alarming for the guardians.
The situation is getting grim. As a matter of fact, this indifference costs one in the long run. Whenever the guardians go through the workbooks and exercise books, several mistakes are seen. Even the wrong words and spellings are marked correct. When the teacher is asked about it they just put the lame excuse. They say that how it is possible in so many students. The guardians get confused that whom are they talking with. At least such reply is not expected from a teacher. I would like to put an example in this context.
The teachers usually use shortened form of some words during explaining. At least they should say a complete word especially in the primary classes. Once I asked my son about his general knowledge book and he was confused. When I took out the book from the bag and showed him. His immediate response was Its GK. It is said that the teacher is next to God. So, they would have to take that much pain. They are carving the future of a child. On the other hand, the pronunciations are very dismal. Its really irritating when a child pronounces FRACTION as FU-RACTION /ˈfəræk.ʃ ə n/ , SPHERE as SU-PHERE /səfɪə r / etc. Agreed that in Punjabi there is no combination of letters(alphabets). But is HINDI and ENGLISH there is. It is expected that English and Hindi should be taught accordingly. Once there was a shocking piece of evidence that the President of India was named Mohammed Ansari. It is common that the President is Mr. Pranab Mukherjee.
These instances compel us to rethink for our children. On which way are the moving? Subsequently, if any student gets place in merit list, its their maximum effort. The school’s role seems minimum . In the name of public school they charge a hefty amount. What do they give in return is easily assumed. When the base won’t be strong how can their personality be built.
In fact, it is the time for the people to be alert in this regard. Something harmful will occur if they don’t be aware at this right time. The ominous silence is spread all around.

AAP:WOULD HISTORY BE REPEATED?

IndiBloggers.inAam Admi Party convenor and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is again in the field with his team blowing the trumpet of promises. And it contains providing free wi-fi connectivity in Delhi. However, the party has decided not to present a manifesto, but to interact with the different sections of the society.
Indeed the AAP gives a nice start to its campaign. But as the time passes the party leaders get confusing deliberately due to administrative bankruptcy. The overconfident leader(especially Kejriwal) starts acting haphazardly just to challenge the current political system. Ultimately the situation appears to be re melodramatic. The party leaders would have to learn how to run a government.
Despite being in power, the leaders act as opposition. So, firstly they have to develop the mentality to be administrative and to tackle the upheavals coming in the way. They have to be develop perseverance and above all tolerance for it. The jugglery can’t work in running a government. Though it is bestowed by  other political parties too. So, if the AAP government replaces jugglery from the system,it would be a memorable part of the government.
During  its previous tenure the party made the call of referendum. Obviously the crisis arose due to its fault.Kejriwal Terming Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party corrupt, Kejriwal refused to take support of any one. Later had to accept Congress support to form a government. Afterwards to satisfy its ego, raised the issue of JanLokpal and resigned from the government.
Interestingly, the JanLokpal bill seems abolished from the party this time.It is not even pronounced.

Test Time

Indeed it is a hard time for one when he/she is out of action. Sometimes a weird situation comes to fore which projects one as pitiable rather worthless. In fact it is not a complete truth. The existence always remains and sooner or later it is obviously accepted. Versatility might lack but worthiness is perennial. Same as the energy is never destroyed. One must approach within reach and leave the rest upon the reaction of the other end. As a matter of fact, it is the period to introspect and analyse one’s self. Though, at such crucial juncture one is the centre of everyone’s criticism.

SUCHITRA SEN: Train-e Boshe Chhilo Sundari Ek Mem

TOPICS + TAGS : GUEST POST, PALETTE, PANORAMA, PASSAGE, SCREEN-TASTE Station-e Saariye Chhilo Chhotto Ekti Train, Train-e Boshe Chhilo Sundari Ek Mem, Aami Unaake Jigyasha Korlam” “what is your name?” se bole - “My name is SUCHITRA SEN” It is one of the couplets which I sang in chorus with my friends. Yes, we used to hum it in fascination, though innocently. Meanwhile, I visited a movie “Bambai Ka Babu”. Anyway I bought a ticket in subsidized rate (the old movies were shown in 50%rebate in those days).Though I was in my teens in those days, but the plot of the picture mesmerized to that extent that I didn’t utter a single word throughout the show. According to the story narrated, the lost brother of the heroine returns home and everyone is cheered in the house, but the male character denies toaccept it. In the course of time the heroine gets to know the fact. Thereafter - she was at a fix and faces a turbulent emotional blow. That is Suchitra who plays the central role so conveniently that her each and every action compels the spectators to move with her accordingly. Every nuance of her performance was devastating which can never be overlooked. Needless to say about her memorable role in “Aandhee”. The dialogue deliveries of late thespian Sanjeev Kumar and Suchitra Sen were as awesome and can never be wiped out. In Asit Sen’s Hindi film” Khamoshi “ the role played by Waheeda Rehman kept the audience awestruck. The film was a remake of Bangla film Deep Jwele Jaai. It is quite imagining what Suchitra Sen have done in this film. Donning in the Bangla films her contribution to the Hindi film industry can’t be counted lesser. Her impeccable performance made her claim wherever she stood . Adieu to her final abode and pray to the ALMIGHTY to grant her sole an ETERNAL PEACE. Previously on Politicscope

POLITICS AT EDGE: THE ART OF ALLEGATION, RETALIATION AND APOLOGY

TOPICS + TAGS : BENARES, BJP, CONGRESS, ELECTION, GUEST POST, POLITICS-AT-EDGE, SOUNDBITES, TALKING HEADS, TMC, VARANASI - ON TUESDAY, MAY 06, 2014 - 1 COMMENT As the phases of voting for the general election 2014 is inching towards the conclusion, the allegations and counter allegations are growing sour to bitter. In this context there are slew of statements made by the political leaders, seem much disparaging. The leaders don’t even bother to mind what they are saying. To justify their uttered word they can go to every extent whereas in countering the statement the other tries to go even lewder. Instead of saying on the relevant issues, the election campaign turns to the personal attack which has nothing to do with the mechanisms of governing system of the county or states. Interestingly, when one accuses or assails (though verbally), the other retaliates, immediate or after a moment (Thanks to electronic and social media, which makes these viral in a fraction of seconds). Now it is upto the leaders to which low they can go in retaliation. Instead of peeping in others’ collars, should concentrate on their views and programmes and put forward before the public. They should not indulge in the hate spreading politics. Besides, they should avoid boasting to fulfil all the demands, either practical or impractical. The practical ones should be preferred to be dealt. However the Election Commission keeps a vigil regularly but at times it seems helpless. In the flow of their speeches they don’t even bother to think what they have said. If it is pre-planned to utter lewdly, then it is a matter of concern, the leaders don’t even bother to mind about the barbs, how obscene it might be. There are several instances pertaining such obscene speeches leaving the people dejected. Continuing the barb as usual, in a rally near Srinagar, National Conference leader and Union Minister Farooq Abdullah asserted that Kashmir will remain in the communal India. Being a minister in the Union Cabinet, Mr. Abdullah should have thought once. “Kashmir wouldn’t be part of an India that is “communal” and that those who “vote for Modi should jump into the sea. India can’t be communal. If India becomes communal, Kashmir will not remain with India. It will not remain. The people of Kashmir will not accept communalism at any cost.” - Farooq Abdullah, National Conference Leader In his reply rather retaliation Mr. Modi retorted alleging the Abdullah’s to communalise Jammu & Kashmir: “I want to tell Farooq Abdullah that Kashmir has dealt the severest blow to the Indian tradition of secularism. And that was owing to your politics and that of your father and your son. You gave a communal colour to the land of Sufi culture for personal political gains. You, your father and son have committed the sin of communalising Kashmir.” - Narendra Modi, BJP’s PM Candidate In the course of barbing and the opponent down the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi took a dig on Congress vice-president Rahul terming him a Namuna. “If you want to relieve stress, listen to Rahul’s speeches. As per his mathematics, there are 27,000 crore jobs lying vacant in Gujarat. How can this be possible when the total population of Gujarat is 6 crores ? What kind of namuna has the Congress brought ?” - Narendra Modi, BJP’s PM Candidate In the same tone Priyanka Gandhi Vadra rather in flatly reminded Narendra Modi not be childish because he is an aspirant of the country’s top post. “They call him (Rahul) ‘namuna’. Sometimes, they compare him to a stand up comedian and sometimes they call him shehzada. I think you (Modi) aspire to be a Prime Minister, then why do you indulge in such childish behaviour? He (Modi) should maintain dignity,” - Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Congress Campaigner While campaigning for the BJP candidate in Sreerampur, Modi made a veiled attack on West Bengal CM Mamata Bannerjee for selling her paintings. “Your (Mamata) paintings used to be sold for Rs 4 lakh, Rs 8 lakh or Rs 15 lakh, but what is the reason that one of your paintings sold for Rs 1.80 crore. I respect art. But who was the person who bought the painting for Rs 1.80 crore”. - Narendra Modi, BJP’s PM Candidate Without missing a chance Trinmool Congress made a counter attack terming Modi ‘Butcher of Gujarat’ and asked to refrain from boasting on development. Besides TMC has demanded a public apology otherwise it would file defamation suit. In between CM Mamata Bannerjee too spat venom in her tweet. “If he comes to power, India will plunge into darkness. We do not need gyan (lecture) on development from the architect of riots.” - Mamta Bannerjee, TMC Leader It’s a matter of shame for the country which is one of the largest democracies of the world; where mannerism and etiquette count. In lieu of boating about changing the country, the politics, all the political leaders must first and foremost learn themselves some mannerisms and etiquettes. Instead of peeping in others’ collars, should concentrate on their views and programmes and put forward before the public. They should not indulge in the hate spreading politics. Besides, they should avoid boasting to fulfil all the demands, either practical or impractical. The practical ones should be preferred to be dealt. In fact, the public is no more alien to the plight of country’s economy. The government should make the policies and impose taxes in such a way that the mass should not be over burdened. As a matter of fact the barbing getting murkier as the phases of the general election are going to be wrapped up second week of the coming month. The political leaders are just making fun of the democracy and polluting the polity. In this regard there is a question which is to be considered. That is despite making attacks and counter attacks the leaders demand a public apology. As it is said that if the other party remains neutral after the attack by the opponent, then apology is considered. Neither the political leaders are refraining from making derogatory remarks nor caring for model code of conduct. Despite their mischievous attitudes they demand apology. Isn’t it beyond the ethics? Thanks Prime Minister

Felt glad to go through the Prime Minister Dr.Manmohan Singh's decision of not being in race of the top post.In the last two regimes of the UPA-1 and UPA -2 Dr.Singh had to be humiliated several times in the crush between the party and the government on certain issues. The party flatly took aside. As a matter of fact the during Indira Gandhi's era the Congress Party started projecting itself above than its government which is spontaneously continuing. Dr. Singh might remember that during Mr.PV Narsimharao,he started his inning as Finance Minister. It is unbelievable that in his prior experience he was quite unaware of the party's policies. Despite he continued his top job in UPA-2 regime. During his second tenure he was badly attacked and held responsible for the multi-crore scams. It is beyond believe that he was not hurt a bit. Meanwhile several mockeries were in air regarding him. Even the people who adamantly and bluntly believe his honesty and gentleness were hurt badly. Despite he continued his job instead of resigning. Eventually the moment came and the PM took aside from the race. He has presented a New Year gift to his admirers.
